Watch this latest clip as Siya Kolisi and the Springboks continue to sing and celebrate as they prepare to return to South Africa.
According to SA Rugby, the Springboks are expected to return to South Africa from France on Tuesday October 31, with a press conference planned when they arrive at OR Tambo International Airport.
Springbok head coach Jacques Nienaber, captain Siya Kolisi and several other members of the team will attend the away team’s press conference which will begin around midday.
As was the case four years ago, the Springboks are set to receive a heroes’ welcome before embarking on a cross-country tour.
In the latest clip shared on social media, it’s clear the celebrations are still here, with Kolisi leading the singing group as they walked through the airport.
LOTS FOR SPRING TO CELEBRATE
Springboks coach Jacques Nienaber and captain Siya Kolisi thanked South Africa for inspiring them to beat the All Blacks and record a third straight one-point win in playoffs, on track to set a record.. -break fourth Rugby World Cup title..
“It’s for our fans and for South Africa,” Nienaber said after the 12-11 win..
“I wish I could show you the number of messages and videos about what is happening in South Africa.. I think 62 million people were united behind us..
“Farming communities are open to anyone viewing, paying an entrance fee for whatever they want to donate.. Everyone buys blue t-shirts for everyone.. We felt every single bit of energy they gave us and in the last three games, all one-point victories, that drove us and we needed it.”
Kolisi said:
“At the last World Cup the country was hopeful that maybe there was a chance we could win it and what transpired afterwards was the belief between this team.
“There is not a lot of things going right in our country and we have the privilege to be able to do what we love and inspire people in life, not just sports people.
“There’s no ways where I come from I could have dreamed to be here today.. I couldn’t even dream I could be here today.. We come from different walks of life.. I have my own goals and ambitions.
“I want to take care of my family, I want to give back to my community because without them, I wouldn’t be here. But once we unite for a common goal, nothing can stop us.
“What unites us is our country.. What brings us together is the Springboks and South Africa and what drives us.. I can’t explain it to you, you have to go to South Africa to understand.. Once we come together, nothing can stop us, not just in sports but in life.
FOR SOUTH AFRICA
Kolisi added:
“Coach Rassie [Erasmus] said that great things are never achieved in ideal conditions and these are not ideal conditions for us with as a collective.. Playing against the home team at home is one of the toughest things and obviously when we played the last game against England, it was very close, we had to fight and today ‘Today Same, no different.
“The motivation comes from our hometown and family.. The coaches created an environment where we could be with our families, no matter where we were, feeling at home.. There were 15 to 20 children running around the hotel.. It’s one of the greatest things they can do for us..
“People from South Africa too, some of our friends, used their savings to come check on us.
“For me, not giving 100% on the field means cheating all these people and that’s what the coaches always remind us.. Motivation for us, we do not need to look far.”
