Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has praised Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero.
The two clashed during their time in the Italian league before Romero joined the north London club.
The former Atalanta defender put in an impressive performance against the Nigeria international during his time in the Italian league and Osimehn believes the Argentina international is the toughest defender he has faced in his career.
The 24-year-old Napoli striker praised the Tottenham defender’s strength and speed and revealed he was shocked when he faced Romero.
“Victor Osimhen: “Cristian Romero is truly the toughest defender I have faced.
The first time we met, I was impressed with his speed.
I went through some very, very intense duels with him.
I was socked”.
The 25-year-old Spurs star is undoubtedly one of the best players in the Premier League and has established himself as a key player for club and country.
Romero helped Argentina win the World Cup last year and he has been phenomenal for Tottenham this season.
The north London side are currently top of the table and will be hoping to challenge for the title this season.
Romero’s contributions at the back will be vital for their hopes of maintaining the title fight until the end of the season.
The defender is currently at his peak and it remains to be seen whether he can help Tottenham end their title wait this season.
Praise from Osimhen, one of the world’s best strikers, will certainly be a source of encouragement for the defender, and he will be looking to improve on his impressive start in the coming months.

Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur eyeing move for Real Sociedad star
Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move for Real Sociedad star Brais Mendez Brais Mendez is the latest name to be linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur as a potential midfield boost for the north London club.
Football fans who don’t follow La Liga may not have heard of Mendez, but he’s a Real Sociedad star.
The midfielder is a key player on a team that constantly flies under the radar and almost always punches above his weight.
Brais Mendez has established himself as a key presence in the Spanish side.
His incredible performances coupled with his ability to score goals regularly make him a very enticing asset for any club.
Apparently, Tottenham are not the only Premier League club interested in signing the midfielder.
However, Real Sociedad coach Imanol Alguacil hopes that he can keep hold of the 26-year-old for a long time According to the Spanish publication Fichajes, Real Sociedad value him around 30 million euros.
However, they are willing to fight to try and keep the talented midfielder.
Tottenham won’t rest easy though.
Ange Postecoglou has completely transformed the midfield.
Gone are the days of boring sideways passing at Tottenham and the likes of Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr and James Maddison all play with a lot of intent Add Rodrigo Bentancur to the list and we have a very special midfield to work with.
There are also the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp who can fill in should there be any issue with the aforementioned players.
Brais Mendez is a different kind of option to the current roster that we have.
However, it wouldn’t make much sense to get into the fight for him unless one of our current midfielders leaves.
