The celebrations didn’t stop for the Springboks, who finally returned home after winning a record fourth Rugby World Cup.
Springbok players were greeted at OR Tambo Airport in Johannesburg on Tuesday morning by a huge and delighted crowd.
The heroes’ welcome was befitting of a team that broke records, helping South Africa win consecutive tournaments and four of the eight World Cups they have participated in.

Captain Siya Kolisi greeted fans at the airport with the Webb Ellis Cup – the trophy the Springboks retained after their 12-11 win over New Zealand in Paris on Saturday.
The festival hasn’t stopped since the final whistle blew.
The players were flown back from France (via Dubai) like royalty and videos of the festivities at the onboard bar were released on their flight home.

QUARTERLY CARGO AIRCRAFT Flying with Emirates, official partner of the 2023 Rugby World Cup, the Springboks’ return journey begins at Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) on October 30, while the final Closing begins on October 31.
The final flight departed Dubai International Airport (DXB) at 04:56 and arrived at Johannesburg’s main airport at 10:33. It was operated with an Emirates Boeing 777-300ER. Upon touchdown, the aircraft was greeted with the traditional water cannon salute.
The Springboks will now embark on a four-day tour of the country’s main cities.
The tour will kick off in Pretoria, Johannesburg and Soweto – and finish at FNB Stadium – on Thursday 2 November, and travel to Cape Town (Friday 3 November) and Durban (Saturday 4 November) before finishing in the Eastern Cape.

On the choice of Buffalo City over Siya Kolisi’s home town of Gqeberha, SA Rugby president Mark Alexander said another major Springbok event was planned for the municipality in 2024, although specific details have yet to be confirmed.
