A new report claims that Ange Postecoglou has dispatched a Tottenham scout to monitor some of the best players in the Scottish Premiership.
Under Postecoglou, Tottenham has had a great start to the 2023–24 season, and the Australian manager is already searching for methods to make his team better.
Spurs had a great transfer window despite losing Harry Kane in the summer, and they will be looking to build on that success in January.
Postecoglou established himself at Celtic, where he enjoyed great success in the transfer market while playing for the Scottish team.
Among Postecoglou’s best purchases at Celtic was Kyogo Furuhashi, and throughout the summer, Tottenham was connected to the Japanese player.
Sun Sport claims that Postecoglou recently dispatched Tottenham scout Ian Broomfield to Scotland to evaluate some of the best players in the Scottish Premiership.
Broomfield was keeping a close eye on a number of names, including Aberdeen defender Slobodan Rubezic and Furuhashi.
In the summer, Tottenham was said to be interested in Furuhashi, but the deal ultimately fell through. With Postecoglou now firmly established in north London, Spurs may show renewed interest in January.
Furuhashi’s inclusion would be striking.
Under Postecoglou, Son Heung-Min and James Madison have been playing well, and Furuhashi would give their forward line more depth.
The Japanese international has a fantastic goal scoring record with 61 goals in 98 games since joining Celtic in 2021. Playing under Postecoglou, who is obviously a huge supporter of the 28-year-old, he scored 54 of those goals.
“He’s a threat; he gives it his all in every game.” Even when he doesn’t score, he gives the team his all. Regarding Furuhashi, Postecoglou told reporters last season, “He delivers in the big games.”
“There isn’t much of him out there, and he sometimes gets physical with big, strong defenders.” But there’s no denying that he succeeds. I’ve personally witnessed it.
In the summer, Furuhashi signed a new four-year contract with Celtic, tying him down until the summer of 2027.
As a result, Tottenham would need to shell out a substantial sum of money to acquire the 28-year-old because Celtic has the power to set his transfer fee.
