Gary Neville’s lighthearted remarks this morning regarding Tottenham Hotspur leading the league will have probably ruffled some feathers at Arsenal.
Neville was replying to a viewer on X who appeared to be unhappy with some of the recent remarks he and Jamie Carragher had made.
The Arsenal supporter demanded that both commentators be barred from the Emirates for the duration of their careers.
Neville answered with a witty remark about Tottenham leading the league, appearing to be in a cheerful mood.
Neville responded, “To be fair with Spurs top now we will be coming less anyway,” in response to the fan’s request for his suspension.
And as if the aftermath of Arsenal’s loss to Newcastle United wasn’t enough for supporters to deal with, they now have additional suffering to experience.
If Tottenham wins their match against Chelsea tonight, they will take the lead once again in the league.
And considering that Arsenal did make a mistake on Tyneside, albeit due to some dubious officiating, their supporters will probably be rooting for a West London team this evening.
Neville makes fun of Arsenal supporters by saying that Tottenham is winning the league.
Naturally, Tottenham will be hoping that their game tonight is unaffected by the controversy surrounding referees and VAR.
After this past weekend, Alan Shearer has now publicly criticized the standard of officiating in English football as a whole.
And it’s obvious that this issue will need to be addressed in light of the most recent incident involving Spurs and Liverpool.
Still, Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs team will be totally concentrated on the task at hand tonight.
And after the game, everyone at Tottenham will be hoping that Neville can remind Arsenal supporters of who’s at the top of the table once more.
Arsenal’s next target is a midweek Champions League matchup with Sevilla.
And even though Mikel Arteta needs to concentrate on Wednesday, it might be difficult to shake the sour taste from Saturday.
