Tottenham announced today that they will keep pursuing the most severe punishment for individuals found guilty of discrimination, following the announcement that a Crystal Palace supporter would face a three-year football ban for racially mistreating Son Heung-min.
Robert Garland, 44, of Croydon, admitted guilt to a racially aggravated public order offense in August after he shouted and made gestures towards a South Korean during a Premier League game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in May. He was first sentenced to 60 hours of unpaid labor and fined £1,384.
However, the punishment seemed too light to Spurs and the Met Police, so they appealed to the UK Football Policing Unit, which led to the issuance of the ban.
“We thank the police for their cooperation on the matter,” the Spurs stated in a statement. We would like to stress that the club will not put up with any form of discrimination and will always look to take the toughest possible measures against those found to be at fault.
The Crown Prosecution Service’s Kevin Christie continued, saying, “This case shows that hate crime at football will not be tolerated.”

A Tottenham Hotspur player’s Instagram account has been suspended after he used it to support Israel.
Manor Solomon, who is currently injured, learned that his Instagram account had been deleted while he was in Israel, even though Tottenham had granted him permission to return home.

International Israel Solomon had been supporting Israel on Instagram, but this week his account was suspended and none of his posts could be viewed.
There is hope that Instagram will restore Solomon’s account and make all of its content available again. It is thought that Instagram responded to several reports regarding Solomon’s account.
Tottenham has written to Meta to support their player’s claim that he did not post any anti-Palestine content and to have Solomon’s Instagram account reactivated as soon as possible.
Additionally, Solomon’s representatives maintain that the winger only criticized the Hamas attack while standing by injured and deceased Israelis, with no anti-Palestine content.
The Israeli Football Association took aim at Instagram by sharing a photo of Solomon with his mouth taped shut along with the following caption:
“It’s ridiculous,” a Solomon representative declared. Instead of posting anything critical of Palestine, he expressed support for his own nation. It is absurd. What a joke is Instagram.”
It is understood that Tottenham granted Solomon permission to visit Israel this week for a family matter; neither the team nor Solomon’s representatives have provided an explanation for this.
Since the Hamas attack, Tottenham has reportedly offered Solomon support. Solomon is reportedly upset that his account was suspended but that other football players and celebrities have not faced the same consequences for expressing their opinions on the Israel-Palestine conflict on social media.
The Football Association did not punish Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury for sharing a message on X, a platform that was formerly Twitter, that said “from the river to sea,” and Choudhury’s social media accounts are still active. The pro-Palestine rally catchphrase has drawn harsh criticism and accusations of being anti-Israel.
Solomon wrote an emotional message on Instagram following the Hamas attack on Israel, saying, “My country, my family, my friends, and my beloved people have been going through hell for the past two days.”
“More than 800 Israelis have been killed in one day—the highest number of deaths since the Holocaust! More than 150 individuals have been abducted, comprising of women, kids, infants, and senior citizens. Countless rockets and missiles have been fired in the direction of defenseless civilians!
“Hamas is not and has never done anything to help the people of Palestine. The sole goal of the terrorist group Hamas is to exterminate all Jews from the earth.
“Like supporting Isis, Al-Qaeda, and the 9/11 attacks, supporting them equates to endorsing terrorism. Israel is entitled to self-defense! Offer up prayers for Israel.
