Siya Kolisi, the captain of the Springboks, has returned to France in anticipation of joining Racing 92 in the Top 14.
The captain of the double Rugby World Cup-winning team has been very busy since South Africa’s 12–11 victory over New Zealand in the Paris final last month.
After the Springboks trophy tour, Kolisi went back to South Africa. He then traveled to Paris, where he was greeted at his new club, Racing 92, and proceeded to the United States for a charity fundraiser.
He went to an NBA game between the Brooklyn Nets and the Orlando Magic, and he was welcomed there.
Reentering France
But this week, Kolisi returned to France and saw the Saturday afternoon Top 14 derby in Paris between Racing 92 and Stade Francais.
The back-rower for the Bok is expected to play in his first Top 14 match at the Paris la Defense Arena next week against La Rochelle. However, he watched Racing 92 take the lead in the standings from the stands.
Chelsea captain Reece James watched Kolisi’s new teammates win 13–9 at the Stade Jean-Bouin. James took advantage of his free time during the international break to watch the game. James and Kolisi have contracts with Jay-Z’s sports agency.
Henry Chavancy’s try and three points from fly-half Tristan Tedder’s boot gave Racing the lead at halftime (10–6) in a fiercely contested match.
Stade Francais fly-half Joris Segonds tied the score with a penalty kick in the second half, but Racing 92 held on for the win thanks to another penalty kick from Nolann Le Garrec, who put his team on the winning side of the scoreboard.
A video of Kolisi celebrating the victory by dancing with new teammate Christian Wade and fellow Springbok Trevor Nyakane was also shared on Racing 92’s official X page, which was formerly Twitter.
