Four-time NBA MVP and Los Angeles Lakers icon LeBron James offered his thoughts on the senseless shooting at the UNLV campus on Wednesday.
According to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has commented on the recent shooting incident at UNLV.
“LeBron James says, ‘We are the only ones dealing with this same conversation anytime it happens,’ in reference to the lives lost in today’s shooting at UNLV.” Continues by saying that it’s absurd that our nation’s gun laws haven’t changed,” Bontemps tweeted on Wednesday.
The incident happened on Wednesday just before noon Pacific Time, close to UNLV’s Beam Hall. Three victims were slain and one was injured by the unidentified attacker. At 12:37 PM PST, the suspect was pronounced dead by Las Vegas, NV police.
The White House declared that it is closely monitoring the shooting incident.
“I recently learned of the shooting. Of course, we will keep an eye on what is going on right now. Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated, “I don’t want to get ahead of what local enforcements are probably dealing with at this time.”
Following the news of the shooting on Wednesday, UNLV basketball decided to postpone its non-conference match against Dayton.
Will an NBA team soon play in Las Vegas?
The news of the deadly shooting at UNLV comes at the same time as LeBron James’s “ultimate goal” of establishing an NBA franchise in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“Hopefully I can bring my franchise here one day. That’s the ultimate (goal),” the Lakers icon and four-time NBA MVP said on Wednesday
LeBron James’ ambition of starting an NBA franchise in Las Vegas someday should help offset the somber mood prevailing over the city at the moment. The city already boasts of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, the two-time WNBA champions Las Vegas Aces, and the defending NHL Stanley Cup champions Vegas Golden Knights. Without a doubt, it has become a sports hotbed in the past several years.
