The Arizona Cardinals’ fan base has been talking a lot about Marvin Harrison Jr., hoping that if they select him on draft day, he can become the team’s next great receiver.
Marvin Harrison Jr.’s decision to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft is still up in the air. If the Arizona Cardinals are serious about drafting the Ohio State product in April, they will have to change their plans if that turns out to be the case. Harrison stated the following, expressing his current position without holding back:
I haven’t decided yet. You know, my goal going into this season was to defeat Michigan, aka “The Team Up North,” and take home a Big Ten title. Of course, I didn’t do that this year either. That, in my opinion, is a fantastic reason to return, should I choose to do so, as it was something I genuinely desired to accomplish during my time at Ohio State. The fact that I haven’t accomplished that yet makes it possible for me to return.”

If the Cardinals win a few more games and finish outside the top five, they probably wouldn’t select Harrison even if he entered the draft, so this might not have an impact on their draft plans. But as it stands, Harrison is the most sensible choice for a team that needs a dynamic pass-catcher, and the Cards have a top-three pick.
Imagine that the Cardinals still receive the third pick if Marvin Harrison Jr. decides to stay in Columbus for another season and declines to enter the draft. In the absence of the dynamic pass-catcher, who would they likely choose?

Another option is Joe Alt, who is currently regarded as the second-ranked offensive tackle and is projected as a top-five pick in Tankathon’s most recent mock draft, along with Fashanu.
The Cardinals could use the pick on Malik Nabers, another big-play option with over 1,500 receiving yards and 14 touchdown receptions, if they would prefer to select a receiver early in the draft. Here, tight end Brock Bowers, a highly sought-after product of Georgia, may also be involved. He and Trey McBride have the potential to form one of the best football tandems in the league right away.
Dallas Turner and Laiatu Latu, two EDGE rushers, have the ability to infiltrate the top five as well, so the Arizona Cardinals may decide to step up their defense. But if the Cards were to pull off a trade similar to what they did the previous year, they could move down the first round, select, and pick up additional picks with all the names mentioned above minus the two tackles.
For the time being, we will keep an eye on Harrison and wait to see what choice he makes. Harrison’s decision is expected to be made soon, either around or after the Buckeyes’ 2023 season ends in the Cotton Bowl.
