Josh Hughes of The Daily Mail has stated that although Tottenham does respect I.T, the North London team is anticipated to be priced out of a January transfer for the Brentford star.
The team’s offensive woes over the past two weeks may have influenced Ange Postecoglou’s decision, if he was unsure whether Spurs needed to sign a center-forward in January.
More often than any other striker in recent months, Tottenham has mentioned the name of number nine Taylor, and the rumors that the 27-year-old would be moving to the N17 aren’t going away.
According to the report, Tottenham has downplayed their interest in signing the England international, but the Blues still anticipate competition from their London rivals for the player’s services.
It has been rumored for the past few weeks that Manchester United (Daily Mail) and Arsenal (Kick via CaughtOffside) may also be in the running to sign the striker.
Ivan Toney will cost Spurs too much in January.
Hughes has now acknowledged that Tottenham is definitely keeping an eye on the Brentford striker.
He did, however, comment that he did not see the Spurs having to pay the kind of money the Bees would demand in January for their star player.
“I don’t think that’s a secret, a lot of clubs like Ivan Toney,” the journalist stated on Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel.
However, once more, I don’t see Ivan Toney joining the Spurs in this window. Because they are aware of how valuable he is, Brentford will ask for as much money as they like, but the asking price is simply too high.
Toney may not be too fond of the idea of joining Spurs, even if Tottenham were ready to shell out the roughly £80 million that Brentford is expected to demand for him. This is especially true if teams like Arsenal are also vying for his services when the transfer window opens next month.
