When Brennan Johnson left the City Ground for Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, many Nottingham Forest supporters were devastated.
After rising through the ranks at Forest, the 22-year-old made a name for himself as one of the best players in the English leagues, moving from the Reds to Spurs in a £47.5 million deal.
Johnson reconnected with former teammates on Friday night at the City Ground when his Tottenham team played Forest.
Reactions to the Wales international’s return to NG2 during the match were divided. The Mirror claims that whenever he received the ball, there were some boos.
Unfortunately, a head clash meant that Johnson’s time on the City Ground pitch had to end, forcing him to be replaced.
When Johnson and Willy Boly collided inside the Tottenham 18-yard box, Johnson went down clutching his forehead and blood started to run down his face.
The Forest supporters showered the Spurs player with praise as he exited the field and made his way through the tunnel.
The Reds supporters yelled, “Brennan Johnson, he’s one of our own,” as well.
Although it’s unfortunate that Johnson had to leave, it was good to hear the Forest supporters honor him that evening.
This indicates that Trentside fans still think highly of him despite his departure from the City Ground and current team’s Premier League rivalry.

Tottenham had to work hard at the City Ground to defeat a determined Nottingham Forestside team 2-0, but they were ultimately deserving of the victory.
Late in the first half, Richarlison scored from a brilliant cross by Dejan Kulusevski to give his team a lead.
Although Forest has had difficulty scoring goals this season, their performance was significantly better until the sixty-minute mark. Driven by the support of their home crowd, they pursued, rushed, and obstructed Spurs’ free-flowing play until Kulusevski scored the second goal for the guests.
The majority of the game, Steve Cooper’s team was strong, creating opportunities and appearing to be winning, but the second goal seemed to have crushed their spirits. However, a flash of craziness from Spurs midfielder Yves Bissou gave them new life.
With 20 minutes and more remaining, the home team threw everything at the visitors in an attempt to score a goal that would set up an excruciating finish to the game. The Malian midfielder was shown a straight red card for a careless challenge on Forest midfielder Ryan Yates.
Despite their best efforts, Tottenham managed to hold on and secure all three points thanks to their intelligent use of the ball, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s substitution for goal scorer Richardson, and a few outstanding saves from goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.
These were important points for manager Ange Postecoglou as they try to finish in the top four or higher, but they came at a cost, as forward Brennan Johnson had to leave the game early due to a head injury, and Bissouma’s outburst further highlighted the team’s need for composure.
