When Leinster visits Thomond Park on St. Stephen’s Day, Munster is expected to be without its talisman, Peter O’Mahony, as the flanker continues to struggle with a shoulder ailment.
The province lists their former captain as one of the players out this week on their website and states that he is still working to resolve the issue that has kept him out since November 18.
In addition to O’Mahony’s absence, Jack O’Donoghue had a new injury last weekend while starting against Exeter Chiefs and had to leave the game due to a hip problem.
Edwin Edogbo, who has been sidelined for the past two weeks due to a neck issue, may make a comeback in the Leinster match, but he has not been ruled out.
Pa Campbell, a full-back, will likely miss more time due to a shoulder injury he sustained while playing for Young Munster in the All Ireland League. He recently made a full recovery from the injury.
The Corkman will see an expert to ascertain the severity of the problem.
For the sold-out match, Jack O’Sullivan might be included. Leinster is expected to choose a strong team for their trip to Limerick.
In addition to O’Mahony, the following players are still sidelined: Fineen Wycherley (shoulder), Jean Kleyn (eye), Jack Daly (ankle), Liam Coombes (shoulder), Niall Scannell (groin), RG Snyman (chest/shoulder), Joey Carbery (wrist), Roman Salanoa (knee), Mike Haley (hip), and Cian Hurley (ankle/achilles).

Munster’s Joey Carbery is being pursued by Bordeaux-Begles as the out-half considers his options.
Carbery’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign, and it’s known that other clubs are interested in signing him. As a result, he could depart Munster.
The 28-year-old has previously been connected to a move to France, and as he approaches the last few months of his present contract, Bordeaux is rumored to have shown interest in signing Carbery.
Bordeaux, who are growing more and more dependent on France’s out-half Matthieu Jalibert, are looking for a backup.
Bordeaux boasts a significant Irish presence, with Noel McNamara, a Clare guy, spearheading the team’s assault.
Bordeaux is eager to add players to their roster so they can compete on two fronts. They have high hopes for both the Champions Cup and the Top 14, and they have already had great success in the latter, crushing Connacht at the Sportsground in their first game.
Bordeaux, who already boast a quality backline with French players Damian Penaud, Louis Bielle-Biarrey, and Jalibert, would be very appealing to the 37-cap Ireland out-half if they were to add Carbery.
That being said, Independent.ie is aware that no formal agreement has yet been reached.
Given that Ben Healy moved to Edinburgh last summer, Munster would be hesitant to lose Carbery.
Now without a doubt the province’s top choice at number 10, Jack Crowley will give fierce opposition as soon as Carbery bounces back from his most recent wrist injury.
The only other recognized out-half in the Munster lineup besides Carbery is academy player Tony Butler, with center Rory Scannell frequently filling in.
Despite a challenging few years due to a variety of injuries, Carbery is still a great player, as shown by the fact that a top-tier team like Bordeaux is genuinely interested in bringing him to France.
Next season, Munster is expected to lose to Leinster thanks to RG Snyman; this outcome may be confirmed shortly, and Carbery’s future is currently in doubt.
