The news of Nottingham Forest’s split from manager Steve Cooper has been confirmed.
The decision was made in response to Forest’s 2-0 home loss to 10-man Tottenham Hotspur on Friday night, which prolonged their winless streak from the September international break.
Cooper’s resignation was confirmed by Forest on Tuesday. The team is now five points above the relegation zone in the Premier League, sitting in 17th place.

Nuno Espirito Santo, a former manager of Wolves and Spurs, will take over at Forest ahead of Saturday’s visit from Bournemouth.

Two months after resigning from his position at Swansea City, Cooper was named Forest boss in September 2021. Cooper guided the team to promotion in his debut season as manager, even though they finished last in the Championship after beating Huddersfield Town in the play-off final.
For their first season back in the top flight, Forest made an incredible 29 signings in the summer and winter windows. They finished the season in 16th place, four points above the drop zone.
Although they had a more quiet window in the summer of 2023, their performance in the Premier League has not improved in their second season.
