Ohio’s Cleveland — After the Browns defeated the New York Jets 37–20, it was just like any other of their 10 prior victories this season as they entered the locker room.
Players coming and going, hurrying to locate their families, joking around occasionally, and conversing on their phones. Not a single song. Not a dance. Absent the champagne. No main festivity.
That sight would have given you no notion that the Browns had just secured their third postseason appearance since the team’s 1999 rebirth.
According to guard Wyatt Teller, “it’s a good thing.” You wouldn’t want to pretend that you’re the Super Bowl champion, after all. The Jets are an excellent squad. Even though we win the playoffs, it was only one game in the end. The Browns are acting as though they had expertise in this position, even though they don’t have much. This could be a classic case of “fake it ’til you make it.”
Cornerback Greg Newsome II stated, “We still have the season to play.” “Even though we won, this is not our objective. Making it to the playoffs is our main objective; this is not it. There is still much to be done. Much more has to be fixed. We’re happy to have arrived and won, but there is still a lot more football to be played and issues to resolve. Before this season, Newsome had two consecutive sub-.500 seasons, so he was able to sort through the muck and experience the true culture shift here. He was selected by the Browns in the first round of the 2021 draft.
