Head coach Jonathan Gannon informed reporters on Wednesday that Arizona Cardinals left tackle D.J. Humphries will miss the season finale against the Seattle Seahawks due to a torn ACL.
Gannon continued, “He has an ACL tear, so we’ll go through the process of getting that fixed and he’ll be back better than ever.”
This might mean that the Cardinals sign a new left tackle at the start of 2024.
Paris Johnson Jr., a first-round pick in 2023, and backup Kelvin Beachum, who is signed through the following season, are both possibilities for left tackle.
According to Gannon, Beachum will start at left tackle against Seattle.
What is D.J. Humphries’ injury history and contract outlook with the Cardinals?
Humphries’ current contract has two years left on it, but a cut would result in significant cap savings.
According to Spotrac, the 30-year-old’scontracthas a dead cap value of $13.8 million for the upcoming season and $6.9 million for 2025, with a cap hit of almost $23 million for 2024 and 2025.
Since being selected with the 24th overall pick in the 2015 draft, he has started all 98 of his games.
Before Humphries established himself as a mainstay in Arizona’s offensive line in 2016, he did not play as a rookie. Over the next two years, he played in only 14 of the 32 regular season games because of multiple knee injuries, including an MCL injury and a dislocated kneecap.
After his comeback, he played in 16 games in three consecutive years and was selected for the 2021 Pro Bowl.
Last season, Humphries made eight appearances before being placed on injured reserve because of a back problem.

Here’s why Kyler Murray wore a Sidney Crosby Penguins jersey in Philadelphia
Wearing a Sidney Crosby sweater from the Pittsburgh Penguins, Kyler Murray entered Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Sunday and led the Arizona Cardinals to their best offensive performance of the year.
Why would Murray, who does not represent either of the two cities in the NFL match between Arizona and Philadelphia, be wearing a jersey of a star player from another league?
Crosby is curious to know.
“I would be interested in learning the backstory.” Crosby told reporters, “(I have) a kind of an idea, but, yeah, would be cool to hear the story behind it.”
It’s one of those things where you just adore learning the backstory.”
In Philadelphia, why did quarterback Kyler Murray of the Cardinals don a Sidney Crosby Penguins jersey?
Based on Murray’s Monday Instagram post, the following is my estimation: It served as a metaphor for the Cardinals’ daring decision to face the Eagles head-on in Philadelphia, which was fitting for a quarterback on a team that had finished 3-12 in the past.
Murray shared his outburst on Monday in a series of pictures that featured Crosby taking a swing in an intense 2010s Penguins vs. Philadelphia Flyers playoff game.
In any case, Murray fulfilled the message sent.
Arizona trailed 21–6 at the half, but rallied to win 35–31 by scoring 29 points in the second half.
Murray overcame an early pick-six, which came against Sydney Brown, an Eagle, by going on to complete 25 of 31 passes for 232 yards and three touchdowns in addition to 24 rushing yards.
