Did De’Anthony Melton Deal With Setback Before Loss to Jazz?
Nick Nurse offered an update on De’Anthony Melton after another absence against the Jazz.

When Philadelphia 76ers head coach Nick Nurse addressed the state of some injured players before the team’s Tuesday night matchup against the Chicago Bulls, he made it known that De’Anthony Melton and Robert Covington weren’t dealing with anything too significant.
In fact, Nurse was optimistic that at least one of those guys would be back in the mix for the team’s Friday night matchup against the New York Knicks.
On Friday morning, Melton participated in the team’s shootaround at a limited capacity. He also went through solo workouts after the session and before Friday’s game, according to Nurse. While the head coach hoped Melton would be back on Friday, that wasn’t the case.
The door was left open for Melton to potentially rejoin the team for their Saturday night back-to-back matchup against the Utah Jazz. Once again, the Sixers ruled out the veteran guard, marking his third-straight absence this week.
Before Saturday’s loss against the Jazz, Nick Nurse once again addressed the state of Melton’s injury. While it seems Melton hasn’t suffered any setbacks, the Sixers didn’t feel confident enough to roll him out as early as Saturday.
“He didn’t quite get enough done last night to let them pass him for tonight,” Nurse told reporters, according to Sixers Wire’s Ky Carlin. “I would imagine next game, he’d be ready to go. We got a couple more days. He’ll be ready to go for the next one.”
The Sixers have three days off before they head down South to face the Atlanta Hawks. While it’s typically too early to make a call on a player’s status a few days in advance, Nurse seems confident that Melton will be back in action next week, barring any actual setbacks.
At this point, the 76ers could use the reinforcement as they lost both of their matchups against the Knicks and the Jazz this weekend.
