Former Washington quarterback Austin Mack (Folsom, CA) became the first commitment of the Kalen DeBoer era on Thursday afternoon. The 6-foot-6, 226-pounder announced his commitment via Twitter. Mack has already arrived in Tuscaloosa and he’s got four years of eligibility remaining. The California native reclassified from the 2024 to the 2023 class and did not play in his freshman season for the Huskies. He was the No. 8 ranked quarterback in the 2023 class. As a first-year starter in his high school senior season, Mack threw for 3,498 yards with 40 touchdown passes and five interceptions.
Reserve Alabama linebacker Ian Jackson is headed to an American Athletic Conference school, sources tell 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz. Jackson, who did not appear in a game during Alabama’s 2023 season, is headed to UT-San Antonio. He played in three games total in three seasons in Tuscaloosa, all coming in the 2022 season. Jackson entered the transfer portal on Jan. 4 after Alabama’s season ended on Jan. 1 in the Rose Bowl against Michigan.
