Well, it wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win and after a 39-38 win over the Indianapolis Colts, the Cleveland Browns now sit at 4-2 on the season.
Things seemed bleak when Deshaun Watson exited the game in the first quarter after being forecefully planted on the turf and being checked for a concussion. But once again, the Browns defense rose to the occasion in key spots, forcing four turnovers, and backup quarterback P.J. Walker did just enough to keep the Browns afloat.
Is his stock ever going down? Probably not, but this week his stock is off the charts, up. Garrett had arguably the best game of his career – or at the very least it will go down as the defining performance of his career to date. Fans are constantly clamoring for more from Garrett, well how about a casual nine tackles, two strip-sacks, a batted ball and a blocked field goal, effort. Is that enough? The man might not be from earth.
For the second straight week, it wasn’t a pretty performance from Walker. But man, when it mattered most, Walker was poised, and delivered some clutch moments. Most notably, the 30-yard floater he completed to Elijah Moore on third-and-ten with a little over 2 minutes to go in the game. Walker is what he is, but his poise in two unlikely wins deserves some recognition.
even clear if Hunt was going to play on Sunday, and even once he was declared active no one really knew what his work load would be. Hunt made the most of his 10 carries though with 31 yards and two touchdowns. Once Jerome Ford exited with an ankle injury he became the lead back – something to monitor moving forward. Hunt looks more and more comfortable by the week and the Browns run game looks strong suddenly, even without Nick Chubb.
