Six days remain in the transfer window and Leeds are yet to bring any fresh faces through the doors at Elland Road, something that ought to change very soon. Looking at the squad, defence has to be the chief focus as things stand, but adding depth to the attack could be wise too. A bombshell of a departure has been confirmed at Liverpool on Friday morning with manager Jurgen Klopp revealing he will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

Flying well under the radar meanwhile is another looming exit, in the shape of youth attacking midfielder Mateusz Musialowski, with Football Insider sharing that the 20-year-old is edging closer to a move to Leeds, with his contract running down towards the summer. The Polish youth international is seen as “backup” to the talented attacking setup Leeds have already built for this season in the Championship.

The report also points out that Leeds were battling their EFL rivals for the youngster’s signature, who has scored three goals and registered one assist in the PL2 this season, including an equaliser against Leeds in a 2-2 draw: “It is believed that several clubs have expressed their interest in the youngster, but Leeds have made further progress on a deal in the last hours.” He is yet to make a senior appearance for Liverpool, but has shown his form in the senior environment, scoring a further three in the EFL Trophy this season, against Morecambe, Barrow, and Blackpool.

We have very few U21s now that look like they are going to muscle their way into first-team contention, with Mateo Joseph now seemingly making that transition full time. Adding signings like this for a seemingly low fee (due to his contract) is smart business from the club to conduct. He won’t be ready for Championship football right away, but it makes sense to have more and more players ready to step up.
