Leeds have continued talks with Burnley over a deal for Manuel Benson this week but are also interested in Bournemouth’s David Brooks, and it seems the door could be open for the latter to make a move. Speaking to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook after Bournemouth’s 5-0 win over Swansea City in the FA Cup, Cherries boss Andoni Iraola has admitted that Brooks could go before Thursday’s deadline.

He said: “The first part is what the player wants and then a lot of things have to happen. The club has to find a replacement, the financial numbers have to work for everyone. We’ll see what happens. The market is open for one more week.” Brooks himself spoke on his future at Bournemouth after last night’s game and made it clear that he wants regular first team football, refusing to rule out an exit.

What Iraola said last night very much aligns with both Brooks’ quotes from after the game, as well as the noise coming from the media in that Bournemouth could soften their stance if they can find a replacement. Leeds are set to battle it out with Southampton for the signature of the 26-year-old, who Bournemouth signed from Sheffield United back in 2018 for around £11.5 million. It is unclear who Leeds’ first choice target is out of Benson and Brooks but it would not be a surprise at all if one ended up at Elland Road, and the other went to Southampton.
