January 26 (UPI) According to Lamar Jackson, the AFC Championship game on Sunday between the Baltimore Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs led by Patrick Mahomes will be a “heavyweight” matchup. In the NFC championship game on Sunday night, the San Francisco 49ers will play the Detroit Lions.
Baltimore’s game between the Chiefs and Ravens will begin at 3 p.m. EST. Watch CBS for the AFC Championship game.
A few hours later, in Santa Clara, California, the 49ers and Lions would play their game. Fox will broadcast the NFC Championship game starting at 6:30 p.m.
Jackson, the NFL MVP for 2019 so far, is expected to win the prize again this season. In order to play in his first Super Bowl, he will have to overcome the reigning champions after leading the Ravens to the top seed in the AFC this postseason.
The two-time MVP Mahomes will try to guide the Chiefs to their fourth Super Bowl in five years.
The Chiefs under Mahomes have a 3-1 record while playing the Ravens under Jackson. Following Chiefs wins in 2020, 2019 and 2018, the Ravens emerged victorious in their most recent meeting in 2021.
Mahomes remarked of taking against Jackson and the Ravens, “It’s a tall task.” “You must play the best football possible when you’re on the field. It appears like the game would go the other way if you make any blunders.”
The Chiefs, who were formerly driven by potent offenses, relied more this season on their defense. Their defense gave up the second-fewest yards while they had the ninth-highest offensive total. They rated No. 18 against the run and had the No. 4 pass defense leading the way.
This season, the run-heavy Ravens racked up the most yards in the NFL. They gave up the fewest yards and accumulated the sixth-highest total overall. The Ravens gave up 14th running yards and the sixth fewest throwing yards.
