Geirean Hatchett commits to Oklahoma, giving OU Football a massive boost along the offensive line out of the transfer portal
Shortly after the initial portal window closed following the 2023 season, it felt like Oklahoma had put a bow on its initial haul. A total of 10 additions had been secured in the first transfer period and not too many names remained who made sensible targets

Hatchett is ranked by 247Sports as a three-star transfer prospect. The 6-foot-4 and 303-pounder is considered the No. 551 overall portal mover of this year’s cycle and the No. 44 interior offensive lineman available for transfer.
Hatchett appeared in the first eight games of the 2023 season for the Huskies, but missed a few games later on due to injury. He was sidelined for Washington’s matchups with USC, Utah and Oregon Stat
Starting four contests for the Huskies at right guard, he was out on the field first along the interior of the line against Cal, Arizona, Oregon and Arizona State. After dealing with the aforementioned injury, Hatchett returned and earned the UW coaches’ special teams player of the week honors.
He also played in the Pac-12 Championship win over Oregon, the Sugar Bowl victory over Texas and the College Football Playoff Championship Game loss to top-ranked Michigan. Hatchett, of course, helped Washington win the Joe Moore Award which recognizes the nation’s best offensive line each season.

UConn (18-2, 8-1): Dan Hurley’s group has a scintillating 118.0 offensive efficiency rating during Big East play. That’s No. 1 by a country mile. (Butler is second at 108.3, per KenPom). UConn’s defense elevates from good to elite with Donovan Clingan healthy and active.
UConn has two dates with Marquette and one more with Creighton still on the horizon, but the Huskies are rolling and might have the highest ceiling in the country. Bart Torvik tabs UConn with an 84.9% chance to win the league outright. UConn has a 94% chance to earn at least a share, but Hurley is going for it all
Marquette (15-5, 6-3): Sean Jones is out for the season, Chase Ross is nicked up with a shoulder injury and Kam Jones is hobbled with an ankle injury, but Marquette is still alive in the Big East race.
Getting Ross and Jones back to 100% before the first of two games against UConn would be paramount, but a banged-up Marquette could be vulnerable against a reeling, desperate, but talented, Villanova team on Tuesday. Creighton (16-5, 7-3): There’s no such thing as a cupcake-laden schedule in the Big East, but Creighton is red hot (winners of seven of its last eight) and it only plays UConn and Marquette once in the final 10 games.

St. John’s (13-7, 5-4): St. John’s is fourth in offense and fourth in defense during league play. Rick Pitino’s Johnnies have a 3% shot to win a share of the league, but we’re dangerously close to win-out territory.
