Pundit shares what he thinks will be seriously annoying just because…..
The reaction of the fans to Celtic’s 1-0 win over Ross County seems to have caught the manager and the players by surprise. My own opinion on the fans booing is pretty simple. After watching the team struggle again against one of the league’s bottom clubs and seeing the lack of activity in the transfer market, the fans were making their voices clear on the latter rather than getting on the team’s back.
One player in the door after listening to Brendan Rodgers speak for months on end about adding quality in January is not good enough. And the performance of the team against Ross County was the tipping point to tell the club to get their finger out and get some deals done. Brendan Rodgers’ reaction to the booing is what caught the attention of pundit, Tam McManus. The Celtic manager said at the time, “I have had that [negative fan reaction] since I have been here. If it’s not the result, it’s me. If it’s not me, it’s the board.
“All we can do as a team is win games and try to improve and develop which is what the team has done.” [The Herald] McManus said that from that he gets the sense that the Celtic boss is unhappy right now and it’s nothing to do with the fans. McManus said [PLZ Soccer], “I think it was Alistair Johnson couldn’t believe they were getting booed off even though they won the game.
“But that’s the standards that you set Celtic. They’re expected to go and beat Ross County three or four nothing especially if you score in the first couple of minutes. “They need players in and you can sense from that, a little bit snappy, Brendan Rodgers there that he’s clearly not happy with the lack of new players.” All Celtic need to do is identify the right players and get them in the door. I told you yesterday how there are signings happening in England that prove affordable quality is there. The club just need to look harder.
