23-year-old Poveda left Leeds late on deadline day to join Sheffield Wednesday on loan for the rest of the season.
He has struggled for minutes with the White, featuring in just 10 matches this season as Leeds look to make a return to the Premier League.
Daniel Farke’s Leeds side are currently fourth in the Championship, two points away from second-place Ipswich Town in the final automatic promotion position.
Leeds have an abundance of talented players in wide areas and Poveda was way down the pecking order behind Crysensio Summerville, Dan James, Willy Gnonto and Jaidon Anthony.
The winger has joined a Sheffield Wednesday side second from bottom, having scored the fewest goals in the Championship (22). Owls fans will be hoping he can display the talent that Leeds signed him for and help to increase their attacking output.
Poveda took to Instagram to express his excitement at joining Wednesday and to thank Danny Rohl and the fans for their support.
Poveda’s post has received comments of support from former teammates and Championship stars, including Wayne Routledge, Charlie Patino, and Josh Bowler.
Ayling, who also left the club during the January transfer window, joining Middlesbrough on loan, has also offered his support to the 23-year-old.
The experienced defender, who made 268 appearances for Leeds, helping them to promotion to the Premier League, commented: “Go shine brother “.
Success away from Leeds
Poveda has struggled for minutes for the majority of his career at Leeds and has played just 30 times since joining from Manchester City in January 2020,
The winger has played the majority of his football during loan spells away from Leeds, first at Blackburn Rovers during the 2021/22 season where he made 10 appearances, and then more successfully at Blackpool during the 2022/23 season, playing 26 times, including 24 Championship appearances.
