GOOD NEWS: Another intelligent Coach has been assigned to New York Giants for………….
First up is the East-West Shine Bowl in Frisco, Texas, where Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka will serve as head coach of West Team. On his staff will also be Giants offensive assistant Angela Baker, who will serve as the tight ends coach.
Then it’s off to Mobile, Alabama, for the 75th edition of the Senior Bowl. Giants quarterbacks coach Shea Tierney and assistant special teams coach Mike Adams will serve as coordinators. Tierney will coordinate the offense for the National Team, while Adams runs special teams on the other sideline for the American Team.
The college all-star games will be played Thursday and Saturday, respectively, following an important week of practices for draft prospects to show scouts what they can do against fellow NFL hopefuls.
Before we get into the latest rounds of mock drafts, here is a look at the draft order. It is all but complete with the remaining two spots dictated by the outcome of Super Bowl LVIII. The Giants hold the No. 6 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, which is scheduled for April 25-27 in Detroit.
Analysis: “This continues the Giants’ quest from last offseason to add team speed. Nabers is the most explosive wideout in the draft.”
Analysis: “I keep coming back to getting (Daniel) Jones more help, as he has never played with a true No. 1 wide receiver. Nabers could be that. He’s coming off an 89-catch, 1,569-yard season catching passes from Jayden Daniels, and he has a rare combination of speed and route-running ability. He led the FBS with 17 catches of 30-plus yards.”
Analysis: “With his size/speed profile and ability to play through contact, Odunze is a quarterback-friendly target with the tools to be a legitimate No. 1 option. The Giants haven’t had a 1,000-yard receiver since 2018, but Odunze might change that as a rookie.”
Analysis: “If the Giants are going to continue with Daniel Jones as their QB1, they must add a legitimate No. 1 receiver to help the quarterback thrive. As a catch-and-run specialist with superior strength and power, Odunze could make the game easier for Jones.”
Analysis: “He tied for the most contested receptions (24) in the country and had the third-most touchdowns (eight) in those situations. If things play out this way, it would be the first time in the common draft era that three receivers went in the top six picks, per ESPN Stats & Information data.”
Pick: Malik Nabers, WR, LSU
Analysis: “I strongly considered Rome Odunze here, but Nabers might have a slightly higher ceiling, giving Brian Daboll a cross between, say, Stefon Diggs and DJ Moore as his top wideout.”
Pick: Joe Alt, OT, Notre Dame
Analysis: “Alt (6-7, 322) will be OT1 on some boards after a fantastic junior season with the Irish. He still moves like the 220-pound tight end he was in high school.
Analysis: “Alt played only left tackle for Notre Dame but is a very natural athlete who possesses the coordination to play on the other side.”
