Tim McGraw has had a lot to be thankful for this year, including his most recent feat of earning his 47th No. 1 with his single “Standing Room Only.” With this milestone achievement, the country music icon has officially amassed 69 Top 10 radio hits throughout his unparalleled career and extended his Mediabase record for the most weeks at No. 1 with all titles to 74 weeks.
On top of all that, McGraw set another new record for having the longest duration between his first No. 1 to his latest. With an impressive 29 years and 6 months, he has now surpassed the record held by the man known as the king of country music, George Strait.
Sharing the news via social media, McGraw enthusiastically wrote, “I can’t believe it, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude!! Thank you to Country Radio and everyone listening!
To celebrate his most recent feats, the three-time Grammy® Award-winning superstar surprised fans on Monday (Nov. 20) by dropping a brand-new six song EP titled Poet’s Resumé, on Big Machine Records. The project was produced by McGraw and his longtime producing partner Byron Gallimore, and features songs written by some of McGraw’s favorite songwriters.
Among the track list is the focus of the EP, “Runnin’ Outta Love,” which McGraw deems one of his favorites on the project.
Dropping just in time for the holiday season, this collection serves as a way for the “Humble And Kind” singer to say thank you to his loyal listeners and everyone who contributed to his successful year. Upon his announcement via Instagram, McGraw also made it a point to express thoughts of appreciation in a handwritten message.
He wrote, “In the spirit of being thankful, I’m so grateful for all of you and the ways you have supported me, my family and my music thru the years. Here’s a little surprise drop of a few songs you’ve neerv heard. Enjoy!”
Poet’s Resumé comes hot on the heels of his 17th studio album Standing Room Only. This 13-track collection dropped in August and features a whole new batch of songs that highlight McGraw’s signature Country sound, his charming vocals and meaningful songwriting.
“As an artist, I always want to dig deeper and get better every time I make a new record – it’s a big part of what drives me, and I really believe this is one of the best projects we’ve made,” McGraw previously shared of the full-length project.
Named after his latest chart-topper and produced alongside Byron Gallimore, Standing Room Only marks McGraw’s first new record since 2020’s Here On Earth, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Chart and spawned fan-favorite hits including “7500 OBO” and “I Called Mama.”
In support of his newest album, McGraw is preparing to embark on the Standing Room Only Tour. Produced by Live Nation, the trek will launch on March 14, 2024, and hit arenas in over 30 cities.
