Talking on Undisputed, the Hall of Famer reminisced about the time Zimmer was on the Cowboys’ coaching staff as a defensive backs coach three decades ago.
He talked about how Zimmer always had the DBs ready to play and the intensity he brought to practice every single day.
The legendary wide receiver believes this is just what the Cowboys needed for that defense, as he felt like Dan Quinn didn’t always have his team ready to deliver, which obviously came back to haunt them when it mattered the most.
Irvin had already been critical of Quinn, so he wasn’t that disappointed by the fact that he left the team.
The Cowboys had a solid pass defense and were an elite pass-rushing team under the three years with Quinn, but they constantly fell short when the season was on the line.
Now, he could be just what Micah Parsons needed to take that massive leap forward and become a leader, as he has also left a lot to be desired when the Cowboys have needed him the most.
