The Tennessee Volunteers have hired former Washington Huskies co-defensive coordinator William Hinge to be their linebackers coach.
Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel filled both staffing vacancies in one afternoon. He hired Cincinnati running backs coach De’Rail Sims to fill the same role after previous running backs coach Jerry Mack left for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now, he’s hired Washington co-defensive coordinator William Hinge as Tennessee’s linebackers coach, as first reported by VolQuest’s Austin Price.
Hinge spent the past two seasons as the co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for the Washington Huskies, who won the Pac-12 Championship and made the national championship. Prior to his two years at Washington, he served in the same roles at Fresno State in 2022, and before that, he was at the University of Indiana for seven years in various roles on the defensive side of the football.

Tennessee quarterback Joe Milton III is currently amid the NFL Draft process. He performed well during practices at the Reese’s Senior Bowl and received an invite to the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana, in March. He’s viewed as a potential day-three draft pick with physical upside.
